HOW TO CREATE DRAMATIC OPERA CHARACTERS

The aim of the Master Classes How To Create Dramatic Opera Characters is to help aspiring opera singers feel natural and relaxed on stage in specific dramatic situations. They will be able to develop their vocal skills and master the basic craft techniques of opera.

The course will focus on technical and movement improvement according to the individual needs and level of development of the participants. Emphasis is also placed on teamwork on stage, including the use of props and costumes. When it comes to character creation, we will focus on articulation, timbre and facial expression, as well as other important aspects. It is very important for young singers to gain confidence and a clear understanding of character and character development as they perform each musical number. They will gain skills how to approach the study of an opera role and all its demands.

The workshop is designed for singers who wish to perform not only opera, but also song literature or sacred music. Participants will have the opportunity to perform in several concerts: Songs, Musica Sacra, Famous Opera Melodies and the final performance of Opera Fragments. Selected participants will be able to take part in a project in cooperation with the Banská Bystrica State Opera. The Master Classes will take place at the Music School and Theatre in Jelsa, a picturesque seaside town on the island of Hvar in Croatia.
